Come Meet Me in Tulsa!

This weekend I am running (HOPEFULLY- I've been having major knee pain) my second half marathon this year.
And ever.
The Hubs and I will be traveling to Tulsa, Oklahoma and I'll be running the Route 66 Marathon.
I'd love to meet as many of my readers as possible, so please come out to see me if you can!

Here is the schedule for this weekend:

Friday, November 16th:
7:00pm come meet me, Aly, and Holly at Yokozuna's for some drinks and socializing.
You don't have to drink to come. You just have to promise not to make lampshades out of our skins.

Saturday, November 17th:
1:00pm I am speaking at the Route 66 Marathon Health & Sustainability Expo.
I will be sharing my story and taking questions from the audience.
I urge all of you to come out and listen. I promise not to picture you in your skivvies.
Okay, that's a lie. I don't promise that at all.
The Expo is free and open to the public, so come on out!
2:00pm I am in the panel at the Runner's Blogger Forum at the Expo. It is me and 3 other bloggers/runners. And I've looked all of them up. And they are all crazy awesome runners. And this is only my second half marathon. And I'm probably going to have to walk on Sunday due to knee pain.
Womp womp.
I'm clearly out of my league here. But there will be a really cool Q&A where we'll answer any of your questions about our blogs.

Sunday, November 18th:
8:00am is the start time for the Marathon and Half Marathon.
I was really shooting at finishing that bad boy in under 2 hours and 20 minutes... but due to recent suckfest circumstances (read: my knee is craptastic) I may have to walk this race.
I was pretty bummed about it when I realized I may not be able to PR or even run the whole thing, but I can promise you this...
I am going to give it all I've got.
I am going to try to keep a positive attitude and do my best to run if I can, walk if I need, and crawl if I must.
If I end up walking, I end up walking. I am not going to run through excruciating pain and risk the chance of injuring myself even more.
I will cross that effin finish line with my head held high, even if I have to be carried across it in a damn stretcher.
That is a promise.

I have an appointment with the chiropractor tomorrow, so I'm hoping for some relief, or at least some answers!
I will also try to update you all live from the race via Facebook & Instagram (@mamalaughlin) so be sure to check in!
See y'all in Tulsa!
Oh, I PLAN to!!

I think you have done all you can in preparing and being careful not to injure yourself further. While I am a newer runner, I can already see how exciting the build up to race day is. I can't imagine getting there and realizing you can't do it. But on the other hand, you want to stay safe and healthy for those boys, plus, crunches ain't no joke! Best of luck and either way, I am sure you will have a blast in Tulsa. I am going to Blissdom next year so I can't wait to meet you, Aly and Holly!

Good luck, girl! No matter what happens we all know you've trained hard and you will give it your best! You are an inspiration!!

My hope for you is that if you are crossing the finish line on a stretcher that it's a HAWT EMT whose carrying you! I'm going to be cheering for you no matter what!

you could sit down cross legged at the start line and stick your tongue out at us and you'd still be an inspiration! Don't let an injury make you feel any different about yourself and your accomplishments. Easy for me to say, sitting here behind my computer, I know....we'll be rooting for you, but in the end, it's what you've shared with us up until now that means so much-not just running this half. I do realize it means a lot to you, though, and I'm sending healthy knee vibes your way!

I am so excited for you and really wish I could be there to cheer you on, and get a drink w/ you holly and aly of course!

If you have to walk, then you have to walk. No one will be upset or disappointed. You need to take care of yourself to prevent furhter injury. You gotta take care of those beautiful babies when you get home!

Good luck to you! I wish I could be there to support you in person, but its not feasible for me to drive to Tulsa this weekend, even though it really isn't that far from KC. Anyway, I'll be cheering for you and stalking you on Instagram. I know you'll do great whether you run or walk!

I think we put too much emphasis on the Race Day itself. I mean, sure it's where we've spent the money and it's where the official event it and all that energy... but I think the dedication to continue training for this event through a Texas summer speaks VOLUMES more about you than the race day itself. You are amazing!!

The Route 66 is going to be my very first 1/2 marathon and I am looking forward to meeting you at the expo.. Hope you get good news on your knee..

Audrey said...

Run, walk, crawl, OR just have all of your blog followers/stalkers carry you across that finish line!
