Facebook Fan Page

I have been getting a lot of friend requests from you strangers to my personal Facebook page, annnnd I'm pretty sure you are all stalkers and want to make a Mama Laughlin lamp shade out of my skin, so I decided to make a Facebook Fan Page so we could continue this horrifically unhealthy relationship we have going on...
You know, the one where I post about my entire life and show you all extremely embarrassing, fat pictures of myself, and you stalk/are borderline obsessed with seeing said embarrassing, fat pictures.
Yeah, that one.

Mama Laughlin's Facebook Fan Page can be found {HERE}.

You can ask me questions there, look at pictures, recipes, etc.
And I'll do my best to update it as often as possible.

So, go forth, my stalkers, and friend me.
I'm still working on it, but it's up and running.

Skinny Doritos Taco Bake

I originally got this recipe from Plain Chicken.
Confession: I get A LOT of recipes from there, and then make them "skinny".

Here's how I made this recipe Skinny:

INGREDIENTS
1 can reduced fat crescent rolls
1/2 lb. extra lean ground beef (I use 97% lean)
1 can Original Rotel, drained
1 package Taco Seasoning
1 6 oz. container Fage 0% plain greek yogurt
1 cup reduced fat shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 bag Baked Doritos Nacho Cheese chips, crushed

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350.

In a large skillet, brown ground beef and drain off fat.
Add in taco seasoning and Rotel. Simmer for 5 minutes.

Press crescent rolls in the bottom of a 9x13 greased pan.
Press seams to seal. Top crescent rolls with meat mixture, then spread greek yogurt over meat. Top with shredded cheese and crushed Doritos.
Bake for 30 minutes.

320 Calories per 1/8 of the recipe!
That's a big piece, y'all!!

MILF Monday: Upping the Calories

That's what I did this past week- upped my calories.
I was eating about 1,200 calories a day prior to last week, but decided I'd try a zig-zag approach to my calories.
I did this for a few reasons:
1. I feel a plateau coming on
2. To prevent said plateau
3. Because I am working out a lot
4. Because I'm just hungry dammit

So I've gotten a lot of questions on calories and if you're supposed to "eat back" your exercise calories.
And I've responded to you with this:
I have done a lot of research on this, and most people say you ARE supposed to eat back your exercise calories.....
But I don't.
Why?
Well, that's exactly what I'm trying to get away from- rewarding myself with food.
So I've been exercising a lot, and keeping my calories the same.
So I thought I'd try a little bit of zig-zagging.
What is zig-zagging your calories?
It is consuming the same amount of calories WEEKLY, but changing them DAILY.
You can read more about zig-zagging your calories {HERE}.

All that to say, I don't feel like it's affected my weight at all.
But I haven't wanted to discourage myself, so I've stayed away from the scale.
Therefore, I don't have a weekly weigh in for you.
I CAN tell you this...
My 8's fit again!

Same outfit seen here at 145 lbs. (March 2011)

So while they FIT, they are not everyday wear-ers yet. They are still quite snug.

*****SIDE NOTE******
Those pictures are from a little segment I did a year ago called 30 for 30.
It's where I took 30 pieces of clothing and mixed them up and made them into 30 different outfits for 30 days. But the thing is, I never made it to 30 outfits because I ended up getting pregnant half way through.
You can see the 30 for 30 outfits here:
Outfit 1
Outfit 2
Outfit 3
Outfits 4, 5, 6
Outfits 7 & 8
Outfit 9
Outfits 10 & 11
Outfit 12

Outfits 13, 14, 15, 16
And that's where I stopped. I was sperminated at that point.

The Shred Updates
I am still Shredding.
I started Level 2 last week and I hate it.
There is nothing nice to say about it, I personally think it's the hardest level.
I was almost reduced to tears last night while doing the workout.
Have you ever worked out that hard? Where you are so physically tired and pissed off that you just want to cry?
I used to get like that all the time when I played sports.
You see it on The Biggest Loser all the time. The contestants push their bodies so hard that they emotionally break down.
Doing Level 2 last night, I was mad.
Mad because it's not FAIR that I have to workout this hard just to look SEMI-decent.
Mad that I have to put this much work in when other girls I know don't have to do jack shit and look 1 million times better than me.
Mad because I have to watch what I eat like crazy to see results.
Mad because I hadn't done that at all yesterday and stuffed my face with chocolate.
Mad because it's hard.
Mad because I could feel my fat jiggling with each plank jack.
Mad because I was angry with my body for being so tired.
Mad because it's just NOT FAIR.

Not fair.
That's the best way I can put it.
It's just not.
It sucks. And it's hard as shit. And sometimes I want to quit.
But I don't. Because I know it sucks even worse BEING a quitter.
So I fought through that hard ass 30 minutes, because, it's ONLY 30 MINUTES.
And because I know I'm stronger for it.
It is THEN that you begin to build yourself back up again. That you become stronger.
Physically AND emotionally.

I like a good challenge, but I want you to know that this doesn't come easy for me.
It's not like I just say "okay, I'm going to lose 50 lbs." and POOF it's gone in 6 months.
There is a lot of work I put into dropping this weight.
Seeing people "pin" me on Pinterest is a good feeling.
But I laugh out loud every time I read a caption under one of my before/after pics that says "this girl lost 60 lbs. in 4 months!"
... NO I DID NOT!
It took me nearly a year to lose 60 lbs, and it wasn't just as simple as that.
There was more sweat and tears in that 60 lbs. than I think I've ever expended in my entire life.

So just know this:
I work hard for every pound I lose. It does not come easy for me.
But if I can do it, ANYONE CAN!

I'm still a WIP (Work in Progress):

Skinny Scrimp Tacos

I perfected the scrimp tacos.
Yes, I say Scrimp and not Shrimp. Get over it.

INGREDIENTS:
-jumbo frozen scrimps (deveined & tails off)
-1 small container fat free greek yogurt (I used Fage 0%)
-lime juice to taste
-cayenne pepper to taste
-cabbage
-salt & pepper to taste
-can of Rotel
-wheat or corn tortillas

DIRECTIONS:
Heat tortillas in a dry skillet until they begin to lightly brown. Set aside.

In the yogurt container add lime juice, cayenne (more if you like it hot), and a pinch of salt. Mix together.

In a skillet, spray with PAM and add cut up cabbage. Heat slightly until it begins to wilt. Add salt & pepper to taste. Set aside.

Cut your scrimps into bite sized chunks. Cook in skillet with a little PAM (or you can use extra virgin olive oil if you'd like to add more unnecessary calories- I didn't.)
Cook only a few minutes until the scrimps pink up.
Drain can of Rotel and add as much as you'd like to scrimps in skillet for a few seconds. (I used about half a can)
Add salt, pepper, and cayenne to taste. (Be careful with that cayenne pepper!)

Build your taco!
The best part?
They are 135 calories per taco!

How I get it all in... (that's what she said)

I was sent an email a couple days ago that asked me how I possibly get everything I do done in a day.
The woman that wrote me the email (Hi Alice!) called me a "time management guru"!
HAH!
She obviously does NOT know me very well.

But I responded to her with one of my favorite quotes:

If something is important to you, you'll find a way,
If not, you'll find an excuse.

I love that quote. It is so true, isn't it.

With a full time job, 2 kids, a house to clean, bills to pay, a half marathon to train for, the 30 Day Shred to do, dinner to cook, laundry to do, playtime with kids, it's a miracle I get it all done in a day.

But I squeeze it in. that's what she said. Because it's IMPORTANT to me.

Example:

Yesterday the hubs had class after he got off work, so I was going to have to pick up both kids (kids are at separate childcare facilities currently).
I was wondering how the heck I was going to get my scheduled 4 mile run in, AND do the 30 Day Shred... with no help from the hubs on childcare.

SO, right after I got off work (4pm) I rushed home and put on my running gear and hit the pavement. (4:30pm)
Outside.
It was 68 degrees. I was NOT going to run inside with that beautiful weather.
So I got my 4 miles in, got back to the house and immediately, before even wiping the sweat off my brow, grabbed my keys and headed to go get the boys.
Pick up kids. (5:15pm)
Got back home. (5:30pm)
Big T wanted mac & cheese. (ps- this kid is OBSESSED with mac & cheese. he asks for it for EVERY meal)
MJ was content in his bouncy seat.
So I decided with Big T in his highchair eating mac & cheese, and MJ in his bouncy seat on the floor beside me, that I could squeeze in 25 minutes of The Shred.
I got through 20 minutes before all hell broke loose and MJ was screaming and Big T was getting on my ever loving nerves.
"Mommy! DOOOOWWWNNN! I want DOWWWWNNN!!!"

I tuned them out for 5 minutes and finished my workout.

So see, it can be done.
It is hard as balls, but it's possible.

When do you fit your workout in?

If you haven't entered the AbellaBlue giveaway yet, do it {HERE}.

Oh, and I got my half marathon race tee in yesterday:

disregard my sweatface & crazyeyes- I had just finished the Shred, which CLEARLY explains both.... especially if you know Jillian... that bitch will give ANYONE crazyeyes.

Fat (pics) Tuesday

Chances are, if you read this blog, you know I used to be fat.
Big girl status.
And in light of today being Fat Tuesday, I thought I'd show you all some pictures of this former fatty.

Here are some of me, PRE-BABIES.

And some POST BABY #1

YIPES!
Those are all between 180-200 lbs.
On my 5'6 frame, that's no bueno peeps.
Did you know I was technically "obese"? Yep. When I hit 186 lbs. I was classified as "obese".
I never thought I was obese. I just thought I had a little weight to lose.
HAH!
Can you say denial?

Looking at these pictures I don't even recognize that person.
My face doesn't even look the same.

Sure, I've had veneers done since then, lost over 60 lbs., gained 30+ back, and am now trying to lose what remains.
But how does my face look THAT much different?
Crazy, I tell ya.

What will YOU look like when you lose the weight?

ps- if you haven't entered the AbellaBlue giveaway- do it {HERE}. giveaway ends Friday.

Happy FAT TUESDAY to all the fatties, former fatties, and never have been fatties!

MILF Monday: 6 Miles

This morning's weight:

A loss of 3 lbs. this week. Pleased with that.
4 more lbs. until a 20 lbs. loss and I post another set of progression pics. Hopefully I can knock that out in a week or two. I am much looking forward to those 140s!

On the workout front:
I did great this past week.
I had a little bit of some foot pain at the beginning of the week, so I didn't get my Monday or Tuesday runs in, but everything after that was all gravy baby.
I had a 6 MILER yesterday! 6 MILES! I ran 6 freakin miles. Without stopping.
I've got to tell you, the first 3 miles are THE HARDEST. It's like I have to convince myself not to stop.
After that 3rd mile, though, my legs kick into robot mode and I just.keep.going. I often repeat that to myself while running "just.keep.going." It seems to help.
What? You don't talk to yourself while you run? Maybe YOU'RE the weirdo!

After my run yesterday. (it was 48 degrees outside, which explains the ear warmer. and those are my fave running sunglasses because they don't fall down my nose when I sweat- they are cheapy ones from Forever 21 I think)

And if you're asking if I'm going to be this excited EVERY time after I up my mileage, the answer is a big, fat, HELL YES!
I am proud of myself, dammit. I had a baby 3 1/2 months ago and I'm running 6 miles! That is big.
Like monkeys using forks kinda shit.

I also have done my Shred everyday. And I'm happy to report I am no longer sore.
And yes, I do the Shred EVERY DAY for 30 days. Even working through the soreness.
I am still on Level 1 and will move to Level 2 probably in the next few days when I feel like I'm ready.

Full body taken this morning before work:

I know my hair looks like ass, just try to look past it, okay.
jeans- Miss Me size 30
ruffle top- Express size Large
black cardi- New York & Co. size Small
black pumps- Guess from DSW

Jillian and I are about to become BFFS... again...

Sometimes when I have ideas I don't voice them for awhile. Because as soon as I do, I know that it's pretty much go time from there.
When I thought about running my first 5k ever in 2010 I actually thought about it for weeks before telling yall. Same with my half marathon. Maybe it's my way of procrastinating or stalling because once I put it out there it's on like donkey kong biatch.
Case in Point:
Talking about starting The Shred again. I bought mine at Target for like $9.99.
I love this workout because it is fast and effective.
If you have 30 minutes a day (I don't, I have 2 kids! but I FIND time) then you can do this workout.
It's hard guys. I'm not going to tell you it's an easy 30 minute workout, it's not.
BUT.IT.WORKS.
Here are my results from the first time I did The Shred this time last year:

I lost 6 lbs., a total of 7 inches, and went from a size 8/10 to a size 6/8.
I was VERY pleased with the results I got.
In conjunction with doing The Shred, I was eating very little carbs and adding in running as well (definitely not as much running as I do currently, though).

So these are my goals for this round of The Shred:
-Lose 10 lbs.
-A total loss of 10 inches overall.
-Tone up.
-Drop a pant size. (Get into my size 8 jeans.)

That's it. Totally doable.

I will continue to count my calories daily (I eat 1,200 a day), and keep on track with my half marathon training as well.

I was initially going to wait until I got to around 145 lbs. to start The Shred up again, but I figured Why wait? I'm totally capable of doing it right now. Just suck it up and do it you skank.
What? You don't call yourself a skank when your talking to.. uh... your...self?
I digress.

So I totally already took before pictures.
And let me just preface a few things before I show them to you.
1. I am three and a half months postpartum. So cut me some slack.
2. Why do you like to look at half naked pictures of other people? Because you realize YOU don't look that bad and it makes you feel better about yourself? Because you are WAAAY too modest to post pictures like that of yourself on the internet? Touche.
But let me say this- I am not ashamed of my body.
It has housed two beautiful children and has endured significant weight gain and weight loss.
So, while you may snicker or be appalled that I am showing you all this so quickly after giving birth, know that I am not ashamed. I am, indeed, a work in progress, but not shameful.
Ain't no shame in my game.
Hell, I posted pictures of myself in a bikini, why would I be embarrassed about this?
I'm not.
3. Please don't be hateful. It takes a lot of courage to do what I do here and put myself out there for the whole world to read about. Be respectful.

Okay, now that that's out of the way, feast your eyeballs:

Starting Stats
Weight: 157 lbs.
Waist: 32.5"
Hips: 42"
Bust: 38.5"
Arm: 10.5"
Thigh: 20.5"

I did day 1 (Level 1) of The Shred last night and I.AM.SORE.
But it's ooohhh soooo gooood.
I am able to make it through the entire workout without breaks (something I wasn't able to do the first time I did The Shred), so I know I'm off to a better start this round!
29 days to go!

Are YOU up for a Shred challenge?

PS: The Ruffles With Love giveaway ends today. Go enter if you haven't yet. I'll be choosing a winner tomorrow morning and posting another giveaway then, too, so be sure to check back bitches! You don't want to miss it!

i got these ideas burnin' through my skull!

It's best I do this post in numbers. You know, for the sake of your sanity.
Okay, fine, MY sanity. Whatev.

1.
The Ruffles With Love giveaway ends tomorrow. If you haven't entered, do so now. All the cool kids are doing it.

2.
A lot of you have left me comments asking how tall I am. And when I go to respond to you, your email address isn't connected to your Blogger account! Annoying!
Anyway, I'm 5'6.

3.
I got professionally fitted for running shoes yesterday.
Okay, if you have not done this, and you are a runner, I TOTALLY recommend it.
I went to RunOn!, a local running store.
I don't know if they have them where you live, but certainly they have some kind of similar store. It might be at the corner of Get a Map and Fuckoff. (The Hangover, anyone?)
So, you go in, and talk to the people about what kind of running you do, what you use your shoes for, how many miles you clock weekly, etc.
They make you take off your shoes and watch you walk to see if you pronate, have high arches, etc.
I don't pronate, but I do have high arches, so the hippie guy brought out 3 brands of shoes that he thought would fit my foot best.
Mizuno, Asics, and Brooks.
I've run in Asics before, love them. Never in the other two though.
The Mizuno's were so pretty! They were purple!

And if I was choosing shoes based on looks, I would have gone with the Mizuno's.
Honestly, that's what I've done in the past.
My current shoes were UnderArmour. I loved them, but truthfully, I chose them because they looked cool.
Not because they were the right shoe for my foot.

I fell in love with the Brooks brand.

They hugged my foot and felt like I was walking on a cloud.
I can't wait to try them out for a run today! (It's supposed to be 75 degrees this afternoon!!!)
I really suggest you go find the right shoe for your foot, I promise it will make all the difference in your runs!

4.
MJ is sick. He's got a mild tummy bug and I'm at home with him today.
I had dropped him off at the sitter this morning and was in the Starbucks line getting my morning tall skinny caramel latte w/ no foam and 2 sweet n low's, when I got a call saying MJ was throwing up.
So I had to switch from work mode to mommy mode and take him to the doctor.

He just had 6 oz. of Pedialyte and is now sleeping. Poor guy.

5.
Valentines Day last night was so incredibly romantic.
The hubs and I had a candlelight dinner and then took a bath together and made sweet, sweet love all night long.

And if you REALLY believe that's how things went down, you are seriously mistaken.
I cleaned boogers out of my kids' noses, changed shit diapers, and stepped on legos all night. Hubs had class and didn't get home until 8pm.
I did, however, make him a lovely dinner.

Yep, that's a heart shaped meatloaf. I know, you're totally jealous right now.
My meatloaf goes hard. That's what HE said.
But for real, my meatloaf is the best loaves of meat ever.
If by mine, I really mean Pioneer Woman's... whatev.
Yes, you can skinny it up, I often do. But last night was all about the hubs, so I made it all fatty like, just for him.
I do my man good. Clogged arteries and all.

6.
I am going to start another cycle of The Shred soon.
Of course, I'll do before and after pictures.
I had such great success with it the first time, and have even higher hopes this time.
I am shooting for a 10 lb. loss, and a 10 inch loss.
I'll post before pics soon. So be on the lookout for them.

Happy Wedesnday you whores.

Are you so sick of the Valentines Day posts?

Lets count how many bouquets of flowers get posted to your Facebook wall today.

MILF Monday: Hot Mess Express

Thank you all for flooding my inbox this weekend.
Every comment you all leave gets emailed to my phone and I read every one of them.
Hotdamn yall want you a Ruffles With Love shirt.
I totes don't blame you, they rock pretty hard core.
Wait till you see my other giveaways! ;)

If you haven't entered the giveaway yet, you can do so {HERE}.
It ends Thursday, so get on it!
And if you don't want to wait 'till then, or you want to score more than one of those awesome shirts, head over to Ruffles With Love because they are offering Mama Laughlin readers 15% off now through February 20th with the coupon code MAMA15!

Now, onto MILF Monday.
For the new readers, every Monday I do a segment called MILF Monday.
I usually post weight stats, full body shots, and fitness related stuff.

This morning's weight:

Thank the Lord Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints that I'm out of the 160s.
7 more pounds until I post another set of progression pics.
Holla!
Snapped this morning before work:

jean size 10- Abercrombie & Fitch (circa 2005)
(Ps- I can't WAIT to get back into my 8's!)
shirt size small from Express
necklace from Express
shoes from Rossome (Ross + Awesome = Rossome)

This weekend was spent cooking.
I usually don't cook much on the weekends, but I was in a mood this weekend so I made the following:
Pioneer Woman's Corn & Cheese Chowder

Do yall know about PW? She rocks. Weightloss enthusiasts beware: her recipes are full of fat, fat, and more fat!
Of course, it is always possible to 'skinny' her recipes up.
On this particular recipe, I left out the bacon, used reduced fat cheese, 1% milk instead of half and half, fat free ckn broth (no sodium added), no salt added corn, and served it in a bowl made of glass (or ceramic... whatev), NOT bread.
It was awesome!

No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies

I 'skinnied' these up by changing the following:
Truvia instead of sugar, I Can't Believe It's Not Butter instead of margarine, Reduced Fat Peanut Butter, and 1% milk.
Now this was my first time to make no bake cookies, so I'm not quite sure the consistency is right. Especially since I changed up the ingredients. I had to refrigerate mine so they would harden a little and not be so gooey.
But when you take them out of the fridge they get gooey again. FYI.
They are still really good, however.

And last night I made pork tenderloin in the crockpot.
Holy juicy meat, that shit was amazing.
Poured some worscteshiwirelyafsdhf (am I the only one that doesn't know how to spell that damn word??) on top of the hunk 'o' meat, added some sliced onions and chopped new potatoes.
Wow.
Juciest meat I've put in my mouth all week. That's what she said.

So the reason I asked for foundation recommendations is because my face is ridic.
It seems as though starting at 3 months postpartum that my face decides it's going to go all crazy pizza face on me.
It happened to me around the same time after I had Big T as well. I got these dry, itchy, red patches on my face around 3 months postpartum.
I figure it's the last of the pregnancy hormones trying to escape from my body.
That's gotta be it.
Also, this just in: my hair is falling out.
AWESOME!
Now, I have VERY thick hair to begin with so I'm all for a little self-thinning, but eff, that shit gets everywhere!!!
So anywho, my regular Makeup Forever foundation isn't cutting it.
I need something heavy right now.
I have used Bare Minerals in the past, and I love it, but for right now, it's not heavy enough to hide this postpartum teenage face I got goin on.
So thank you for all your product advice!
Last time this madness cleared up after a few months, so I'm hoping it will do the same this time because I am a Hot Mess lately!

Now, have you seen this cuteness that is floating around Pinterest??

Oh yes, we are recreating it for Big T's Valentines Day party at school tomorrow.
Here are a few of the pics I got. I'd LOVE some help deciding which one to use!

I'll end on some pics of my sweet babies!

Mental note: when you are holding a baby that is throwing up be sure to CLOSE YOUR MOUTH.
Yes, I got thrown up on last night. ALL OVER. and even in my mouth hole.

HAPPY MILF MONDAY!
