MILF Monday: 7 miles, tan in a can, and bikinis

It is Monday and I am FINALLY feeling better as are the kids. Last week was a friggin' nightmare in my house. MJ was sick Monday-Wednesday. Then I was sick on Thursday and Friday.
I'm happy to report after my stomach bug (or whatever the HELL invaded my body and made me lose 6 lbs!!!) is gone!
That's right, did you see that.... I LOST 6 FRIGGIN' POUNDS!
I am back in the 130's people!

Now, I have just 10 lbs. to go until I reach my ULTIMATE goal weight. Holy smokes!
And truth be told, I don't really care about the number that much, but it sure is nice to see that every once in awhile.
I care more about the size of my pants than anything. And Mama is almost back in her 6's.
My goal size? It's a 4.
So funny to say that because I specifically remember a post I did back in 2009 when I first started losing weight and was in a size 18 and said that I had found a pile of my size 8 jeans and that THOSE were my goal jeans.
And they were, for a long time.
I hung those size 8 jeans above my treadmill and stared at them every day when I ran. I fit into those jeans in 2010. I can still wear them, but they are a little big.
But I remember saying I never wanted to be anything smaller than an 8.
Maybe it's because I didn't think it was possible. Maybe it's because for as long as I remember (while I was thin) I was always a size 8.
But the more I eat right and move my body, the more I realize that anything is possible.
I CAN get into a size 4.
And I WILL.
Gray tunic- Kiki La'Rue
Green jeggings- Kiki La'Rue
Leopard cardi- Forever 21

Next up, let's talk about my 7 mile run yesterday.
I ran with Megan and Amber and we had originally planned to do 10.
Well at mile 6, I wasn't feeling like I could go much longer.
My last run was 4 miles and before that I hadn't run in 6 weeks, so maybe thinking I could just up and do 10 was a little ambitious.
I mean, in my head, I feel like I am capable of ANYTHING
Like I am woman, hear me roar!
I know I can do anything I set out to, but I also need to take it slow and listen to my body.
So we stopped at 7.
(Don't let that 6:56 pace fool you, I DO NOT run that fast. I forgot to stop my Garmin until a second after I got in my car.)

I was happy with that. Even though they were very slow miles, I got it done. In the FREEZING ASS COLD.
YES, it was 32 degrees outside. YES, that is FREEZING. YES, I'm a Texan and realize that's not as bad as your -39 degrees where you live.
Bite me.
I'm not used to the cold. And I especially don't like running in it.
I'd much rather run in 110 degree heat.
TEXAS GIRL!!!

Now, on to my pasty white self.
Well, PRIOR pasty white self.

So Megan has been telling me I'm pretty much translucent. She'd look at me in the mirror at Body Pump and point and laugh at how my legs were as white as the girl standing next to me's shirt.
So I decided it was time to bust out the Tan Towels.
I've talked about them before.
They rock.
It's a very subtle color. It takes me a good 3 applications to notice a difference.
So I did the Tan Towels and got some color.
Then I got a recommendation from a friend that told me to try Versa Spa bronzer and this HD Millionaire tan extender stuff.
So I did.
And I'm pretty much Hispanic now.
It's amazeballs.
I picked it up at Planet Tan. It's pricey there. $50 for the spray and $40 for the lotion, but sooooo worth it.
You just spray the tan on all over yourself, including your face. Then you put the lotion on all over (NOT ON YOUR FACE) and voila, you're dark!
Some of my readers said they got both on Amazon for $45, so I'll be checking that out next time!
You're welcome.
That stuff is my new fave.
And I did NOT get paid to say either one of those products rock. Although, that would have been nice.

Lastly, I got the urge to try on bikinis again this year at Target.
I always get a wild hair when they start to put the bikinis out at Target (because y'all know I go once a week to that place) to try them on.
I think I do it this early just to see how much work I feel like I need to do before summer rolls around and I actually have to get in one... IN FRONT OF LIVE PEOPLE! IN THE DAYLIGHT!
And this year, I gotta tell ya, I didn't feel defeated.
I didn't pick out every flaw I had in the mirror. I smiled, snapped a picture and thought, "not too shabby!"
And by comparison with last years picture, it's definitely an improvement.
I've still got some toning up I want to do, but I'm slowly getting there guys!
And I couldn't be more proud!

Look how flat your tummy is in the 2nd picture! Awesome changes!!!

Congrats on the 7 miler. I have been out of commission since getting sick, so I am back at it today.

I might have to try the new tanner. I was thinking about getting some soon, because I am glowing!

I think 7 miles is AWESOME! I need to find some running friends because it sounds like Meg is motivating your butt! If you could bottle up whatever you had & send it my way, I'd suffer through it to see a 6 lb. loss!

I personally thought I would be happy in an 8/10 size range and medium shirts. Now that I am here, I am not happy there. I feel on the high end of the Med range and would much rather be on the low side of Med and a 6/8. Single digits all the way baby!! Need to tone up and get the last 15-20 lbs off!! Love this years bikini!

Our goals are so similar!

My goal weight is 115 (i'm only 5 feet tall), but I also care more about my size (currently 8, aiming for 4).

I have hit a plateau which is NO GOOD because I'm trying to reach my goals by March 15! (big annual beach trip)

I know I can do it, but it's time to mix stuff up!

Your 6-pound weight loss reminds me of my favorite movie quote from The Devil Wears Parada - "'I'm just one stomach flu away from my goal weight" ha!

Good job on the run, freaking awesome.

And thanks for the mexican girl self tanner info, gonna check it out stat.

Thanks so much for talking about the tanners! I was just thinking that I needed to order one but wasn't sure where to start...and there you are. Awesome! Also, you're rockin' that bikini girl!

I'm in a 14/16 and have always said 10 is my max. I don't ever remember being smaller than that. Looks like the sky's the limit :-)

Good Job on your run lady!

Nothing like a good stomach bug to make you lose a few pounds...or 6! I like how you talked about wanting to be a 4. My goal is 6 but I used to be a 2 (I'm only 4'11"). Maybe I'll re-evaluate when I get to a 6. I'm a 10 now so it just seems impossible, ya know?

Oh, and you looked hott in that bikini! You'll totally rock it this summer!!

Good work on your run! 32 is COLD -- Even by Indiana standards, that's freezing! I don't do well in the cold either - it hurts my lungs. On the tanning front, I recently bought my first box of Tan Towels... so far so good. I'm not see through anymore.

Happy Monday!!

Way to go on the 7 miles! And thanks for the tanner help. I desperately need some fake bake since I'm giving up the tanning bed. Also, you rock that bikini! Thank you so much for sharing your story. It's such an inspiration!

Ha ha..yes you are a texian girl and I'm a WI girl. So when you posted 32 degrees I laughed and spit my water everywhere...Running in the cold sucks big balls but it shows me I can run in any weather because along with the freezing (ummm I think it's finally 2 degrees today) weather we also get the hot humid hello 90-100 degree temps. Awesome huh...Thanks for the tan tips although being that I am part hispanic I don't need any tan. Ha! You look amazing in your suit! You are my inspiration to never sell myself short. That even though my goal weight was 150 I feel like I was really comfortable with myself at 135-140's. THank you for giving me the drive that I can do this. You rock girl:)Glad to hear your busting balls and getting your running stride back.

I am naturally brown (lol... look at me in my avi!) and so glad I don't have to worry about tanning. Lol. I totally understand your goal size and how much it changes as you lose weight. My original goal was a size 10 (down from a 16) and now I'm an 8 (!!!) even though I'm ten pounds shy of my goal weight. So do I push to lose those 10? Or do I relax in my size 8s? Who knows??

Lookin' good in that two-piece, Mama!!

Megan @ Grimm Tales said...

Even when I lost 25 lbs. I was still in a size 10. That's what I started at. It's disappointing. But I need to remember how far I have come. I will get in a size 6. Even if I have to lose 25 more.

Love it! Can you please do a post about how you get your teeth so WHITE?! I need to know!

Word on running in the cold. I run in the cold up here in Michigan because I have no choice. I would much rather run in the heat of Oklahoma any day.

Hey Mama, do you have any tips on self tanning? You look AMAZING, but I get so nervous about streaks and uneven tanning that I end up paying for the spray tan. Any advice you have would be great!

Thanks :)

Eleanor

First, you definitely look more toned, especially the abs and legs. Most importantly thanks for the self tanner commentary. I love versa spa booth but sometimes it is nice to just your tan on at home and be done. I did order both on amazon for $47.68 shipped, thanks to your suggestion. The versa spa should be at my house wednesday. I will no longer be so pasty!

Yesterday morning after reading this post I went on Amazon to order the tanning products. I think every other one of your fans did too because before I could finish checking out I got a notice that the product was removed from my cart and was now sold out. Ha!

So, not that I am any kind of health expert. You clearly know what you are doing with the weight loss, but have you ever considered eating paleo to lose the last few pounds? I started paleo little over a month ago. The first week was SO HARD, but I've got over the sugar addiction and I have noticed a decrease in my appetite and a big increase in energy. I've lost two pounds a week without cutting calories. I just eliminated grains, sugar (other than fruit), and dairy. There are so many great websites with paleo friendly recipes, it's actually been fun planning and cooking meals. I also watched Dr. Robert Lustig's youtube video "Sugar: The Bitter Truth" and he explains that a calorie is not a calorie because of the way our bodies process sugar, especially fructose. Just a thought for you. You look awesome and your success really inspires me to change my life.

It's funny how we have a number or a size in our heads. I'm just going for when I feel like a badass haha. Almost there, but maybe I'll sprout some wings and firebolts out of my shoes still ;)
