Monday: I'm baaaaackk!!

It's Monday! And I didn't weigh myself this morning.
Womp womp.
On Friday I decided I was going to run.
Mind you, I haven't ran outside in over 6 weeks.
But I was craving a good, hard run. I couldn't shake it.
I left work and my legs were shaking in my car. I haven't had that feeling in a long time. The feeling of WANTING to run.
So I laced up and went.
SLOWLY (for me). But I did it.
I usually run about a 10 minute mile, I averaged an 11-11:30 minute mile on that run.
I'm okay with that. It was my first run back.

I started my run in my neighborhood like I always do, and when I turned onto the long road at the back of my neighborhood I got tears in my eyes.
That road and I have a past.
It's where I run when I do my long training runs on the weekend.
When I'm training for a race.
Something I never dreamed I'd even be able to do.
Something I never even knew I WANTED to do.
I've pounded more pavement on that road than any other in my neighborhood.
It winds and turns and when I finally come to it, I can see for miles. Cars pass and I don't pay attention to the drivers. I just run.
Jamming to my music, my feet hitting the concrete at a steady pace.
It means something to me.
It means that I've sacrificed things to get up at 6am and run. It means I have dedication. It means that while I may not be the fastest or the skinniest runner, that I'm out there, trying my best.
And in that moment, I am proud.
So when I ran down that road this time, with no pain, I was reminded of all those early mornings. And I was happy. Happy to be running again. To be able to clear my mind.
To be able to do what I love, with NO PAIN.
It wasn't any special, significant run. It wasn't a far distance. But it meant something to me. And I am glad to be back and hope to continue to stay pain free!
Because Mama's got a full marathon to run this year!
just over 4 miles- PAIN FREE!!!
Backtracking to Thursday night.
Where Megan made me do a spin class AND THEN a body pump class.
And I fell in love.
With Body Pump.
And my left bicep is the sorest it's ever been in my life. And so are my calves.
It's a deep burn.

Yesterday I had a Sunday Funday with Megan!
We hit up Gloria's for some lunch and skinny margaritas (mainly Megan), went and got our nails did with this new thing called NexGen (it's like gel/shellac but better!) and then went to Megan's house and let the kids play.
It was SO FUN and we'll be doing it again this weekend.
After our scheduled 10 mile run.
That's right. I'm going to attempt to run 10 friggin miles with Megan this weekend.
Last time I ran that long was 2 months ago. I just may be insane.
But I ran 4 miles the other day and could have gone longer, so I'm thinking MAYBE I'll be able to bust out 10....
We'll see.

hot lunch date. We split chicken fajitas (w/ corn tortillas)
NexGen nails!
jamming out to Go Hard or Go Home (by T.H.E)
love them! Don't ask me the color- I have no idea!
annnnd I love this girl. so much fun.
Big T and Miss M watching Megamind- so presh
Hope you all have a great Monday!!
Spin class tonight!!!

I have given up on getting on the scale. Im training for the Cowtown and have done nothing but gain weight since I started. Its been frustrating cause I can see my body changing. My hips and stomach are definitely smaller but legs are getting enormous. The scale is no longer my friend and I think im going to rely on the good old tape measure for a while.

I too have problems with running right now. Im starting to get pain in my left hip after running about 3 miles and know that I need to get it looked at or Im going to regret it on race day. Im just being hardheaded and hoping it goes away (lord knows Im smarter than that and realize it wont)

Thanks for the encouragement and keep up the good work. I aspire to one day run 10 minute miles, but as of right now, ill be happy with my 12 minute miles :)

Ah! I'm so excited to read all about your full marathon training! And I'm so happy you're back to pain-free running! You inspired me to start running last February and I think that a world in which Mama L does not run does not make sense! :-P

I just had to tell you that I am a beginning runner! I haven't ran far or much, but you have inspired me to start, which is the biggest step. I found a great beginners program for on the treadmill (b/c it's FREAKING COLD and SNOWY up here in Northern MN!) and my first day was able to do half of it. Thought I was going to die! But i'm keeping at it and will keep you posted!

I'm nearly in tears for you. Coming back to what you love, what has found you freedom and helped you find yourself is such a beautiful thing. Some days I'm sure you've cursed that road, but every step has helped put you where you are today... an inspiration! And I'm SO jealous you get to hang out with meg! She's amazeballs. I'm pretty sure I need a Sunday Funday with Holly and Mel!!

I am so glad that you are getting the most from your gym membership! I am working hard this month to build up as much strength before my half training officially begins on Feb 2nd. I hope that if my legs are REALLY strong from spinning & weight training, then I won't have any problems with my knees. {fingers crossed}

That's so great, that you got out there :) I also read on instagram someone saying that seeing you and Megan together is like watching a crossover episode of your favorite episodes and it's so true!!

Yea for pain-free! That's great news. Just a little suggestion/word to the wise...10 miles might be too big of a jump with just getting back to it...not sure if you're familiar with the "10% rule" and with your knee you may want to follow it. If you're not familiar, each week you're only suppose to increase your mileage 10% more than your last long run..so technically you should only add on .4 of a mile! Something to think about, you don't want to injure your knee/IT band (which can happen when you jump your mileage up that high that fast!)...take it for what it's worth!

I'm so glad you love Pump!!! I was still doing it at 7 months pregnant, I LOVE it.

You have to try this protein shake one of my pump instructors told me to drink after doing pump - it's seriously sooo good. It's 232 calories and it's better than a real chocolate shake, hands down.

1/2C unsweetened vanilla almond milk 20 cals)

1/2C water,

1 scoop chocolate protein 110cals(I use the Whole Foods brand and it's good, I can't vouch for taste on any other)

2TBS PB2 45cals (it's powdered peanut butter, found by the pb or at amazon)

half a frozen banana. Blend until smooth and you have the best shake ever.

Mommy guilt is one of the hardest things for most of us. If its not working out, its whether to work or stay home or something else. Good for you for getting over it quickly with baby 2!

Our stories are so similar except I had my second kid in 2009 instead of your first and my first race was a half marathon not a 5K. BUT I've lost 50 pounds, too, am not to my original goal weight of 130 AND I'm running my first full marathon this year too!

I wanted to see what is on your playlist for when you run... I'm a new reader so maybe you have already done a post about this and you can point me in the right direction, but I could use some motivating music! I never know what to put on!! Thanks!!
