Every mom will tell you that giving birth to a child is something that changes your life forever, both physically, mentally, and emotionally. You can’t think the same way about the world anymore – you’re not possessed with this beautiful, tinny creature’s smile, eyes, moves, and body.
No matter how much you’re enjoying your new life as a parent, some things are not as pleasant or as joyful as your cute little one. One of the hardest things I’ve dealt with after giving birth is a sleep deprivation. So, today, I want to share with you some tips you can use to get your sleep in order and save more energy to spend with your baby during the day.
Sleep when baby sleeps
This “rule” is so old it became almost a proverb every new parent needs to know. Since you’re not alone anymore, you need to adjust your schedule to your baby’s sleeping and nursing habits. In the beginning, it’s especially important to follow baby’s sleeping rhythm, to get your strength and sleep back.
When your baby does grow older a bit, you can still follow this rule. However, by now you should be able to stand out long hours without falling asleep since your baby’s sleeping habits have changed.
Get to bed early
In the beginning, you need to make a significant adjustment to your sleeping schedule – getting into bed right after baby’s bath. Not only it’s important to follow a routine that will help you get better sleep during the night, but you’ll also avoid typical sleep deprivation every new mom gets into.
I’ve been there, too – you can’t wait for your baby to fall asleep so you and your hubby can get a bit of alone time for romantic movies or cuddling. However, try to keep them short at least until you catch up with your sleeping routine.
Find a good mattress.
If you’re struggling to get beautiful and comfortable time during sleeping hours, one of the possible issues – besides your little one’s sleeping routine – is an unreliable mattress. A mattress needs to be firm but shouldn’t hurt your back or neck when you’re sleeping. It also requires to withhold the body weight and not fold after just months of using.

Reduce the noise in the room
One of the ways that can help you get to sleep on time – and sleep well, actually – is reducing the noise that comes in your bedroom. If you’re one of those parents that sleep with a baby in the room, this one is of particular importance for learning you’re newborn the right sleeping habits.
Often you can find moms and dads struggling to teach their baby to differentiate between the night and day, and one of the factors that play a role in such situation is – reducing the noise. So, don’t turn on a TV or a computer when you go to sleep. You can add some light, quiet music, that will help you relax and fall asleep faster.
Other than that, put the drapes on, turn the light off, and get ready to have a good night’s sleep!
