Q. How tall are you?
5'5 1/2

Q. What kind of sports bra do you wear or recommend for larger chested women?
Moving Comfort Juno. Worth EVERY penny.

Q. What is your favorite unhealthy food item?
I love it all. Pizza, pasta, fried everything, mashed potatoes, Taco Bell, ice cream, cake. 

Q. How do you find the energy to work out every day?
If something is important to you, you'll find a way. If it's not, you'll find an excuse.
I get up at 4:45am and work out on the weekdays. On the weekends I usually get a long run in or do whatever I can.
Q. Like many others, it is the motivation that I am curious about. Particularly, when the scale seems to be stuck and your clothes are no longer getting baggier- how do you keep up the motivation to continue with what you are doing even though it feels as though it is doing nothing? 
You ARE doing something, even though it may feel like nothing.
This is a lifestyle change. Therefore, it's going to take awhile to get to where you want. Then when you DO get there, are you going to be discouraged when you're not making progress anymore? No. Try thinking of this as something you'll have to do for the rest of your life. Think PAST your goal. What happens when you finally DO reach it? You'll have to do the same things you are doing now to maintain (maybe you can be a little less strict, but mostly it's the same). Be patient and Just.Keep.Going!

Q. How did you stop drinking soda and how do you continue to stay away from it? 
I'm all about quitting shit cold turkey. I quit fast food cold turkey. Just stop drinking it. Replace it with water. The headaches will subside in a few days. You can do it.

Q. I was wondering what kind of running shoes you use?
I wear Brooks. But I suggest going to a professional running store and getting fitted for the right shoe for your foot. They don't charge you to fit you, and they will analyze your walk/run and all that. So worth it.

Q. On your long runs, what's your favorite mid-run snack?
I like the Sports Beans. They are compact and easy to eat on the run.

Q. I'm running my first half-marathon in exactly one month! What one piece of advice would you give me?
I'll do you one (that's what she said) and give you several. I'm an over-achiever like that.
-Start slow.
-Don't get discouraged by all the people that pass you in the beginning (if you don't have starting corrals)
-Keep your training pace.
-Drink water at EVERY station. When you do get water, pinch the cup so it's easier to drink while running.
-People watch. It makes the miles go by faster.
-Get into a good song. If you feel your pace pick up when Fort Minor's Remember the Name comes on, go with it! But don't burn yourself out.
-Don't hold back your emotions. You trained hard for it, relish in it! If that means laughing or crying. Don't hold back.
-Carb load the night before. Pasta is always a great choice.
-Don't forget to eat something around mile 5 or 6. And not something you've never tried before!
-Don't wear a new piece of gear. Chaffing/rubbing is not awesome.
-Use BodyGlide.
-Bring a pair of fuzzy house slippers to put on after the race. Your feet will thank you.
-Bring an extra shirt/change of clothes if you tend to sweat a lot.

Q. Do you ever just have a day where you lose it and binge all day eating everything in sight? Or do you truly stick to your diet each and everyday with little to no cheating?
Yes, I have bad days. I eat crap sometimes. But I don't let it happen all the time. I get right back on track the next day!

Q. How long did it take till you could wear shorts on your runs? Did you ever have issues of them riding up?
I wore shorts when I first started running. Of course I was 200 lbs. and was running in the privacy of my own home on my treadmill, so my shorts riding up wasn't a huge issue. They DID ride up, but I didn't care. I remember feeling every single thing on my body jiggle when I first started running. It seriously grossed me out every time to the point where I was almost in tears. I felt so disgusting running because it was just that much more proof that I was extremely overweight. But I kept doing it. Because I knew it was that very thing that was going to fix it. So day after day, I got in my shorts and ran. And the more I ran, the less I'd jiggle.
I suggest trying to find a pair of compression shorts that you can wear that won't ride up. I know that's tough if you're not quite where you want to be body wise yet, who wants to wear spandex with all that "extra?" but try not to look at it like that. Don't worry about what others think of you, just get out there and get your sweat on and FIX IT!

Q. Have you ever had to deal with loose skin? Any tips for dealing with it?
Yes I have loose skin. It is on my stomach and is hidden by bikini bottoms. That is the only place I have it, all of my other areas toned up with losing AND LIFTING weight.
Aside from toning up and building muscle, there isn't much you can do for loose skin.

Q. What are some of your favorite healthy snacks?
I like to snack on frozen bananas, almonds, celery and peanut butter, apples, string cheese, any kind of fruit, cottage cheese and celery, baby carrots and light ranch, and my biggest weakness is dark chocolate. 

Q: Babies! Are you wanting to try for a girl?
Nope. I am just fine with having two boys. I'm done having kids on purpose!

Q: Make-up! If there was one thing you couldn't live without, what would it be & why?
This is a tough one. I'd have to say good ole fashioned Chapstick. Apple flavored.

Q: Where is your favorite place to shop?
I'm a jeans freak. I LOVE a good pair of jeans and my favorite brands are ReRock by Express and Miss Me (found at most western stores like Sheplers, Cavenders, etc.). But for all other clothes I like boutiques. Of course Kiki La'Rue is my fave.

Q: What kind of music do you workout to?
Oh, my taste in music is all over the place. I have everything from Steve Miller Band to Justin Timberlake to The Cars to Britney Spears on my Ipod. I really like songs that make me want to run faster, longer, and harder.

Q: Favorite date night activities?
We rarely go places our kids can't go. But if I had to answer, I guess I'd love to go to a movie and out to dinner. We also like to cut up and have a few drinks, so maybe out to a bar. But then with that comes hangovers + kiddos= NOT AWESOME.

Q: What's your favorite workout?
I LOOOOVE spinning and zumba.
But I'm a runner at heart. It clears my head and there's always a way to challenge myself and continually improve.

i have a question. i was wondering what you would recommend for me to do to start eating healthy when i am an extremely picky person. i will not eat spicy food or peppers or many different veggies. what would you recommend for me starting out to learn to eat healthy and also what would you recommend i do when i get bored or am emotional because when i get bored or am emotional i eat a lot?

My first time reading your blog, I greatly enjoy your "voice" and found so much of it to be true. I have to thank a friend for routing me here. I can't though relate to quite a bit of what you blog about, I'm not a runner ( never have been/never will be), I'm much "older" and have a medical condition that really hurts my attempts at health improvement. But, despite this I know I will keep following your blog because it at least makes me smile. Keep up the good work, congrats to you.
